Richard and all newbie bookbinders,
The easiest way to get 8.5 x 11 short grain paper is to buy half as much 11 x 17 grain long stock, text or cover as you need, and cut it, or have it cut, in half. That will give you 8.5 x 11 paper with the grain in the short direction. Thanks for asking!

What would the easiest solution be to get nice 8.5x11 cover stock (80lb. +) with the grain running the short length for a single fold? (...without buying 23x35 and having it cut for example...) Do any of the major companies supply cut sheets in less than heroic amounts?
