An easy test for longevity - though it does take a bit of time - is to put samples in a non-UV filtered south facing window for a few months and keep an eye on them. This doesn't have the reproducability of ovens and light banks but if something turns yellow/ brittle/ fades or changes surface texture you'll know that it won't last forever!

This is an interesting thread. If one uses a handmade paper from another country for text pages and cannot determine/control pH levels, how important is it to use archival products for the rest of a binding?

Are there spray fixatives which are considered archival?

I am curious about others' opinions.
