From the Latin ?page art,? this juried exhibition is open to members of the Philadelphia Center for the Book. It will explore the relationships of image, text, and placement to the page, both in book and two-dimensional form. The exhibition will run from September 1-30 at the Kelly Writers? House on the University of Pennsylvania. The reception will take place on September 23, as the final feature of the Philadelphia Center for the Book?s CHALLENGING COLLECTIONS workshop.
As there are a limited number of display cases to exhibit artist books, we are also encouraging members to submit two-dimensional works such as page spreads, prints, broadsides, or page-related materials for wall display. All two-dimensional work must be framed and wired for hanging. Any necessary cradles for the display of artist books must be provided by the selected artists. As part of the mission of the Philadelphia Center for the Book, we promote understanding and appreciate of artists? books as an art form, and we ask permission to allow handling for all accepted books during the reception. For the remainder of the exhibition, books will be in closed cases.
Open to members of the Philadelphia Center for the Book. No fee for entry. Interested artists may participate upon PCB receiving their membership dues. No more than 3 original works must be dropped off for jurying from 4-8 PM on July 31 or August 7, to the Philadelphia Center for the Book, 2nd Floor, 728 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146.
