[BKARTS] book designing

then again, this being the book arts listserve, it just may be appropriate if we could discuss how one does become a book designer...one would think that cover illustration, typography and layout as well as information about the skills, training and options available to and required of budding book designers would fall under the purview of this list (seeing as how, as bookbinders and small presses etc, we play with these elements anyway).
i too would be interested in knowing about the process - especially the book publishing industry's li'l secrets about the actual procedure of getting a book designed and published. if that doesn't apply (and haven't other members promoted publishing(s) and published items?) then we can end this and i will simply contact steven directly. i hope that the rich resources of this list would be able to shed some light on both the design process and the publishing arena.

Always be drunk. Get drunk constantly - on wine, on poetry, or on virtue, as you prefer. - Baudelaire

The problem with communication is the assumption that it has been accomplished. - George Bernard Shaw
