Re: [BKARTS] The Use of Size after Washing?

Is it advisable to always size pages of a book after washing?
Not necessarily. If the paper was originally well sized washing may not dissolve enough of the size to cause problems. You can wash and dry a folio, then check rattle and surface condition to determine if resizing is required.

If so what type of size is best?
I use food grade gelatine when I have to size paper. If you can find a disposable metal cooking tray that's large enough, use it on the stove to gently heat the water. Add just enough gelatine so that when you put two fingers in the bath and touch them together they feel tacky.

Hope this helps.
