LaNana Creek Press Summer Book and Letterpress Intensive
July 8—August 5, 2007

The LaNana Creek Press and the School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University will host a one month intensive retreat that is intended for letterpress printers, binders or other book artists who would like to hone their skills while working on a major project of their choosing.

Each participant will design, print, and bind an edition of books, and construct a slipcase and drop spine clam-shell box. Instruction will be available as needed. Field trips to Austin, Dallas, and Houston’s printing sites of interest are planned.

Topics to be covered are: hand & computer typesetting, book design, and letterpress printing, edition binding and basic case and box making. Basic silkscreen, intaglio and relief print instruction will be provided as requested within the context of the chosen project.

Facilities include a well equipped printmaking facility that includes Vandercooks, C&P, lithographic and etching presses, Xante FilmMaker 4, platemakers, and exposure units for silkscreen and photopolymer films for intaglio.
