An afternoon of free activities at the State Library of Victoria


Book Conservation Clinic
Library conservators will advise you on caring for old books, diaries, 
albums etc. Plus: free appraisals by antiquitarian book dealers Kay 
Braddock, Barbara Hince and Peter Arnold, and displays by archival product 

Page Turnings: Rare Books Up Close
A unique opportunity to get a close-up view of rare books from the 
Library's collection. Expert staff will be on hand to answer your 

2, 3 & 4pm
Conservation Laboratory Tours
A behind-the-scenes tour of the Library's new state-of-the art 
conservation laboratory. Visitors can see examples of book conservation 
work and speak with conservators.
(places limited, bookings available from 1.00pm)

Exhibition open 10am - 5pm; tours 2, 3 & 4pm
Mirror of the World: Exhibition and Tours
Visit the magnificent exhibition Mirror of the World: books and ideas 
(Dome Gallery, Level 4) which showcases rare books from the Libnrary's 
collections. Gallery guides will be on hand all day to answer your queries 
- or you can join exhibition curator Clare Williamson for a guided tour.

3 & 4pm
Book Collecting for Beginners
Book collector, author and owner of Alice's Bookshop, Anthony Marshall, 
offers advice on starting your own book collection. (You can also browse 
and purchase books about book collecting at the Reader's Feast Bookstore 

State Library of Victoria Foundation
