[BKARTS] edward has some questions

i may have asked these before, but i here goes anyway:
  1. rather than working with either transparencies (plastic) or tracing paper (or mylar, or whatever), is there any way i can take paper and make it more transparent? not that it needs to be totally transparent - just so that the paper becomes less materially present (if that makes sense). i'm working with already existing images and drawings on paper and not creating them. any ideas?
  2. anyone have any experience making lightboxes? what i would like to know revolves around lightbulb usage and ventilation issues, as well as how to create transparencies/ slides (or whatever medium would carry the image). any thoughts, suggestions, resources?
  3. if thou couldst have but one book - which would it be? why?
