Depends upon the fields of astronomy. There were some great classics published from the late '50's to late '60's.

The size of the library also comes into play. You'd operate differently for a collection of 50 than for 500 or 5000.

If you have more specifics I could be of more help. # vols, fields, publishers (very helpful), that sort of thing.
