Re: [BKARTS] looking for sublet in NYC while teaching

hi laurel,

have you found a place to stay? i hope more people replied to you off-list.

i wish i knew of a place, but i think the allerton hotel for women is
long gone. i stayed there more than 10 years ago and it was something
like $75 a night. and by now, pretty much every one i know has moved
out into the burbs of new jersey.

i've been trying to plan out our summer travel back to the US and i
wanted to take classes again, but no one seems to have their summer
class list up yet. so i can't really sort out the details yet
unfortunately. are you teaching in new york during august?

hope you've been well. i've been enjoying the colored linen thread
that arrived recently from talas. what a huge difference! and i'm
seeing just how small a book i can make without specialist tools or
training. i've managed a 2-1/2" high one and now i'm trying for a
1-1/4" one.

take care,
janey

Hello to all,

I'm teaching at the Center for Book Arts from April 14-20, and as I don't
live in New York, I'm looking for a sublet in the city for that week. Hotels
are out of the question - too expensive. Craig's List is my next stop, but
having already had a strange experience through CL, I thought I'd try
word-of-mouth in the book community first.
If any of you know of someone in the city with a room to sublet, or someone
going out of town, please pass on my info. Anywhere in the 5 boroughs...

Thanks,

Laurel Parker
