[BKARTS] Colorado Springs Book Arts/Letterpress Intro Course



Colorado College in Colorado Springs will be offering a three-week
foundations in Book Arts and Letterpress course, June 25-July 13,
2007. The course will be taught by Frank Brannon, a graduate of the
MFA in the Book Arts Program at the University of Alabama.
Undergraduates and graduate students from other institutions may

Topics in Studio Art: Book Arts and Letterpress
Students in this course will learn the foundational skills in book
arts. Students will become familiar with conceptual design, materials,
and structure of the book while learning binding techniques,
typographic principles, setting and printing lead type by hand,
creating images from photopolymer, printing on a Vandercook proof
press, and editioning. Students will develop their own book project
from concept to finished edition. Harmony between image, text, and
structure will be stressed, and the recent history of the book arts
will be covered.
