Lecture: Franklin D. Lewis (University of Chicago), "In Search of the Historical Rumi", Thursday, May 3, 5:30 pm, Tsai Auditorium, CGIS Building South, 1730 Cambridge Street, Cambridge MA. Followed by a reception and viewing of the exhibition "Proclamations of Immortality: Rumi's Works in Modern Editions," Edison and Newman Room, Houghton Library. Co-sponsored by Houghton Library, the Friends of Harvard College Library, the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, and the Center for Middle Eastern Studies of Harvard University. Exhibition: "Proclamations of Immortality: Rumi's Works in Modern Editions," Houghton Library, Edison and Newman Room, May 1-August 18, 2007. Gallery talk at noon on Friday, May 4: Hope Mayo and Sunil Sharma, co-curators of the exhibition, and Vincent FitzGerald and Zahra Partovi, publisher and translator of the editions on display, will speak about their work. Houghton Library is located in Harvard Yard, near the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Quincy Street.
