[BKARTS] For Sale: American Specimen Type Styles book, 1912

I am offering the following as a courtesy to members of this list prior to
listing it elsewhere (at a somewhat higher cost). Thanks for looking!

American Specimen Type Styles: Complete Catalog of Printing Machinery and
Printing Supplies. New Jersey: American Type Founders Company, 1912

Hardcover, red cloth with black stamped titles, all edges red, decorative
endpapers. 1301 pages. Includes several pages of halftone images of American
Type Founders outlets, an incredible number of typefaces, and many, many
examples of various fonts used in advertising, with colored borders and
decorative designs. Another huge section contains ad cuts, fancy initials,
ornaments, in various colors; plus a huge section of borders, also with some
in colors. A lot of Art Deco, Craftsman, and other styles here! Yet another
section is ?items made of brass for the composing room,? fully illustrated
and showing styles from brass rules, and another big section of ornaments
etc. for electrotype. Yet another lengthy, fully-illustrated section on
machinery and supplies, with many images of presses, type cases, stitchers,
punches, etc. Another section features ?Modernized Furniture for the
Composing Room and Press Room,? and finally a section on ?Steel and Iron
Equipments.? This is a great source for scanning clipart, also a terrific
historical snapshot of printing tools and methods 100 years ago. CONDITION
ISSUES: Front cover is speckled with white paint (some patience could remove
it). Rear hinge paper broken exposing mull. One section is loose, but pages
are complete. A bit shaken in the binding. A couple of closed tears at page
margins. One tiny ad cut image has been cut out. General edgewear to cover
edges. This tome was obviously a reference in a serious print shop at one
time. It also weighs in around 12 pounds.

Price: $225, postpaid in USA (postage would have to be calculated to any
other destination.) (Payment methods accepted are listed in my sig.)
