This is the week! Be part of the third annual BookOpolis event at
Asheville BookWorks. Send up to two works - artists' books, prints
and posters to BookWorks in Asheville, NC.

BookWorks in Asheville, N.C. announces a call for The Third Annual
September 10 – 14th
Open call for Artists’ Books, Broadsides, Original Hand Printed
Posters and Prints
Artists working in the book or print form may submit up to two (2)
pieces for exhibit. Works may be one-of-a-kind or editioned.
We are especially seeking works that take advantage of the unique
aspects of the book form: multiple surfaces, development of ideas
across time, integration of image and text, interesting combinations
of concept and structure, and works that take advantage of
opportunities offered by this form for interactive and installation-
like expression. Additionally, we are seeking 2-D Print Media,
especially letterpress broadsides and original hand-pulled posters.
Commercially reproduced books or prints are not eligible for this
This year we are curating a small group of BookOpolis work to remain
on display through October. Please indicate on the registration form
if you would like to be considered for this additional exhibition
time. Artists whose work is selected will be notified by e-mail
before September 21st.

Exhibition Opening and Reception
BookOpolis is free and open to the public; join us to celebrate an
explosion of artists’ books and print media and meet many of the
artists. Last year’s event was host to over 80 works and over 100

Open House / Hands-On Activities
Explore the art of the book! Enjoy a variety of bookish activities
for all ages. Screen printing, letterpress and bookbinding will be
set up for visitors to participate.
BookWorks is a community resource for print and book arts in
Asheville and the South East.

BookOpolis 2007, Entry
**Please read and initial each:
______A $10 fee per entry, (2) max. per artist. Fees collected will
assist with reception and activity day. $5 entry fee for students,
one entry per student.
______2-D works must be ready to hang. BookWorks is not liable for
and will not hang works not securely framed or otherwise unprepared
for display. Original posters may be unframed, please indicate how
______BookWorks keeps 40% of sale price of works sold. Artists
receive 60%. All work is sold on consignment.
______All entries may be used for promotional purposes on-line and in
press releases, artists will be credited for their work.
______Work must be picked up the week following BookOpolis, September
24 – 28th,during regular studio open hours (M-F, 1 – 4 pm).
______A small selection of work will be exhibited through December
10th. Please indicate if you wish to be considered for this extended

______If work is mailed to BookOpolis, please include return postage,
a return mailing label and a re-usable package for return of work.
______BookWorks, LLC will make every effort to see that all works on
display are safe and handled with care. However, our insurance is
only effective in the case of total loss due to fire. Please include
an insurance value for your work.
