[BKARTS] Seattle Center for Book Arts fall classes & workshops


Bookbinding I
This series will encompass an introduction to
bookbinding tools & techniques. It will include the basics of
bookbinding; cutting, folding, determining paper grain, etc. Simple
books will be constructed, including a variety of pamphlet stitch
books, a stab binding with a hard cover, a coptic binding and a case
bound book. Bookbinding I is an excellent introduction to beginners
into the world of bookmaking.
Sundays, October 21 – November 18, 4 pm – 7 pm
$175 + $25 materials fee

Exploring Miniature Books with Peter Thomas
This two day workshop will explore the exciting world of miniature and
artists' books. Participants will learn basic bookarts techniques
while making four miniature books with innovative book structures
developed by Peter and Donna Thomas. There will be handouts, with
directions for how to make each book structure. Presented to coincide
with the Miniature Book Society Conclave.

Wednesday and Thursday, October 10 & 11

Writing + Bookmaking with Wendy Call & Yuka Petz
Learn how book structures and your writing can work together and
inspire your creative side.

Sundays, September 30 & October 7
10 am – 4 pm • $140 + $15 materials fee

Book and Document Repair and Conservation with Gudrun Aurand
Learn how to repair tears, cuts and holes in pages and documents, as
well as related conservation methods.

2 Sessions! Saturday, October 27 or Sunday, October 28
9 am – 1 pm •
$65 + $10 materials fee

Holiday Workshop Series
Handmade gift wrap, ornaments, and cards! Get an early start on all
your holiday projects.

Tuesday, November 27 (Gift Wrap), Thursday, Nov. 29 (Ornaments), &
Friday, Nov. 30 (Cards)
6:30 – 9 pm • $50 + $15 materials fee per
session, or $125 + $25 materials fee for all three (Save $45!)
