[BKARTS] Hand Bookbinders Exhibition Opening Reception at SFPL

Please join us for the opening reception of The Hand Bookbinders 35th
Anniversary Exhibition, Thursday, November 1, 6:00pm, in the Skylight
Gallery, Main Library. This triennial exhibition is sponsored by the
Book Arts & Special Collections Center, and continues through December
31, 2007. You'll see "innovative designs that range from the traditional
to the unexpected. San Francisco is home to an active group of
bookbinders who practice their craft within a large community of book
artists and calligraphers."


Catalogues will be sold at the reception to benefit the Library, and in
the Book Bay at the Main for the duration of the show.

Opening November 1-


The Hand Bookbinders of California celebrate their 35th anniversary with
an exhibition of members' hand-bound books in the Skylight Gallery on
the sixth floor of the San Francisco Main Library. An opening reception
will be held Thursday, November 1, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., and the exhibition
will be on view from November 1 through December 31. The show features
designs ranging from the traditional to the unexpected and includes fine
gold-tooled leather bindings and avant-garde artists' books. Membership
in HBC is open to anyone with an interest in books and bookbinding. HBC
meets monthly from September to June, sponsors workshops and classes in
traditional bookbinding, and publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Gold
