[BKARTS] Books and Vancouver,BC

   In mid November the following book related events will take place in

1.As part of Simon Fraser University Library's Special Collections
series,'Share the Enthusiasm'(collectors discussing their
collections/collecting),Paul Whitney,long time collector and head of the
Vancouver Public Library,will speak on his collection of modern firsts,as
well as his collecting of certain music and underground comix.
   Title of the talk:'Honey,It's Just Like Money in the Bank and Other
Myths:The Confessions of a Modern Firsts Collector'.
   Place:Wosk Centre for Dialogue,580 West Hastings,Vancouver
   Time:14 November @ 7:30 p.m.

2.Reidfest:An Evening to Celebrate Robert Reid --- His Typography,Graphic	
 Design,Letterpress Printing
   Reid printed Fraser Mines Vindicated(1949) --- the start of a very
successful and very influential career in printing,teaching and
mentoring.His career continues.Join speakers Takao Tanabe,Charlie
Mayrs,Peter McNally and Rollin Milroy to celebrate Reid's achievements.

   Place:Simon Fraser University Vancouver,515 West Hastings,Vancouver
   Time:16 November @ 7:30 p.m.

3.Alcuin Wayzgoose
   Join us in celebrating,viewing and participating in BC book arts through
recent BC private press activities(new books,broadsides...),demonstrations
of bookbinding,paste papers,and suminagashi(Japanese marbled paper) along
with works from book artists and works from students at the Emily
Carr book program.

   Place:Vancouver Public Library,350 West Georgia,Vancouver
   Time:17 November 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
