For Sale: Chinese Types and ink formulae

Two very specialized booklets:

Specimen of Chinese Types. Hong Kong, Po Yick Types Foundry (if there is a
date, I can?t read it ? the title etc. is all that is in English. Probably
dates 1940s) Red paper wraps, 10.25 x 6.5 inches, stab bound, album-fold
pages. One binding thread broken, creases and edge chips to covers, clean
internally with somewhat toned paper.

A Survey Report on Encyclopedia of Ink Formulae from the Research Division
of J.J. Berliner & Staff, NY. No date. In a paper-cover three-ring binder
with die-cut title hole. The material appears to be reproduced by
mimeograph. 48 pages in English of the original formulae, plus many
interleavings of ephemera, notes in Chinese, translations of promo note in
Italian, German, and French, letterheads with notes, etc. Also inserted at
the back are typed recipes (in English) for various health nostrums,
ointments, etc. Obviously a personal notebook from a San Francisco Chinese
printer?s estate. The ink formulae cover a wide range, from inks for
writing, documents, stamp pads, printing, colored, etc.

Both items together: $55 plus $3.00 postage in USA (by arrangement
