Re: [BKARTS] color printer-which one?

I have a tabloid-sized Epson R2400 which does a good job, is tolerant of a wide variety of media, and doesn't fuss when you don't use Epson products. However, if it's not too much to buy (ca $800) it's expensive to keep: 9 cartridges to keep in stock (meaning $135 tied up) and the blighters go fast -- I estimate a tabloid sheet costs $5 to print in "best photo" i.e. uses the most ink. But the people who teach digital photography like this one. Another issue is that I am using the primitve Photoshop Elements (2.0) and can't do any color profiling to speak of. I could upgrade my Photoshop, but a professional photographer I know prefers the HP self-profiling printer. I have no experience of this one, but if you are really fussy about color balance and true maybe you ought to look at it. His is 44" wide and I suspect was not cheap, but he says he hadn't changed ink yet. I know when I bought my HP color laser workhorse utility (36000n) I costed the operation
and figured the rather expensive toner cartidges would amortize themselves after one changeout.

Subject: [BKARTS] color printer-which one?

Hi,

I
need
Color
Printer
advice-
Laser
or
Inkjet

Now
that
color
lasers
have
been
coming
down
in
price
I
an
rethinking
which
format
to
get.

I
already
have
a
b/w
laser
which
I
love
and
a
Canon
color
for
some
of
my
art
work
(transfers/
iron-ons
etc..)

I
am
rather
torn
between
these
2
formats.
Within
the
next
several
months
I
will
be
doing
a
few
projects
that
will
require
me
to
print
in
color
--
directly
from
my
printer
on
different
substrates
--
transfer
images
to
differrent
substrates

I
would
love
to
have
some
of
your
input.

BTW
price
does
matter!

many
thanks,
Elsa
