Re: [BKARTS] gilding large areas

Ok, gold leather... someone knows where to buy it? Is it real gold or just a color?

Someone knows a way to make this gold leather by his own??

I remember Tini using a gold leather onlay on occasion. Perhaps that is what you saw.

Since no one seems to have responded (at least to this List), I'll take a stab: If I remember correctly, I think that Tini uses leather from France that is already gilt. Someone who has taken a class more recently will know for sure.

Hello

recently I saw some pictures of books bound by Tini Miura. Some of these books have large gilded areas. It does not seem to be a classical tooling, most probably the gold is sticked directly to the leather without the use of heat or pressure.

I was wondering how this is to be done? What kind of adhesive is used? Is it possible to apply this kind of gilding to any leather?

I would be glad to get some advice to be able to recreate this decoration technique...

Thank you very much

Florian.
