Re: [BKARTS] Gothic Type

Almost all my type, including gothic, is lead. It works well. You wil pay a king's ransom for brass type and it almost never comes up on EBAY.

Wow. I've been told not to use led type. Your information is very useful to me. I have some lead gothic I can use.

Thanks a lot,
John

Quoting William Minter <wminter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:

Lead type can be used if you are careful about the temperature, and
if the material you are stamping is not too hard, i.e. library
buckram.
Good luck,

Does anyone know of a firm that makes a brass Gothic type (or
"cloister") for use on stamping (with foil) titles on leather book
covers? I prefer brass because it has to be heated, and I am not
sure lead type will work.

Thanx,
John Johnson
