[BKARTS] Piranese as Book Designer

The Book Club of California invites you to a free illustrated talk.
PIRANESI as Book Designer
An illustrated presentation by Marcia Reed, Head, Collection Development,
Getty Research Institute.
Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778) is best known for his 1,000 monumental
engravings of view of ancient and 18th-century Rome. While considerable
scholarship has been focused on Piranesi's prints and polemics, Ms. Reed
describes his innovative and complex designs for books that, surprisingly, have
received scant attention.
The Book Club of California invites you to a free illustrated talk and
discussion, at the Club's rooms, April 28, 312 Sutter Street, Suite 510, San
Francisco. Reception at 5 to 6 pm - Lecture at 6 pm, in the adjoining SPUR room.
