[BKARTS] NEW DATES Book Arts Workshop - Working with Leather

Apologies for duplicate postings. 

The Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois is pleased to announce NEW DATES for the following book arts workshop. This workshop is open to the public. 

TITLE: Working with Leather: Exposed Sewn Binding 

DESCRIPTION: In this workshop, students will learn the basics of working with leather binding, including tooling and multiple color inlays and paring. On the second day, a small blank book will be created by sewing with an exposed style stitch over cords or straps. No previous experience with working leather will be needed, but basic binding experience preferred. 

Instructor: Bea Nettles, www.beanettles.com 

Dates: September 6 – 7, 2008 
Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily. 
Location: Specific building on campus to be announced.
Cost: $199 - includes supply fee for leather, glue, boards, and paper 
($180 for GSLIS staff, students, and alumni, previous Book Arts workshop attendees)
