Re: [BKARTS] book photography

Marilyn,

Getting good photos of your books doesn't need to be complicated or expensive. All you need is a simple light box made from a cardboard box ( http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=light%20box&w=all ) and several clamp lights from the hardware store ( http://tiny.cc/5K8FW ) with the daylight balanced bulbs that Jim reccommended .

Also, here's a good article on lighting and making your own light stands. http://www.hollyknott.com/stq/lighting.htm

Subject: [BKARTS] book photography

After trying, unsuccessfully, to get good digital photos of my books using standard lights and homemade back drops I am ready to invest in some decent equipment. I have a decent camera but would appreciate advise on what type of lighting equipment to purchase. Also, how about those fabric boxes that diffuse the light? Do they work? What types of lights are best with them? A couple of hours online reading about equipment has left me confused.
Thanks
