  FOR VIEWING AND SALE AT ONE DAY AUTOGRAPH AND MANUSCRIPT SHOW SATURDAY, DEC. 13

   

  George Washington’s call for “material change,”

  Abraham Lincoln’s prediction of “a new birth of freedom,” Alexander Hamilton’s reaction to economic crisis

   

  Rosslyn, VA. – As America prepares for the historic inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama, Washington area history buffs and collectors will have a rare opportunity to view and acquire documents that helped shape our nation at the Third Annual Washington Historical Autograph and Manuscript Show taking place at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn (at Key Bridge), Saturday, December 13, 2008, from 9am to 4:30pm.  Admission is $5.00 - and free for those under 15.

   

  Over 20 National Exhibitors will showcase for sale original autographs, letters, documents, and manuscripts in all fields of human endeavor, including Music, Literature, Art, Performing Arts, Science, Women, etc.  Prices range from under $20 to $100,000-plus.

   

  Several letters and documents were selected because they demonstrate leadership in the face of crisis, and illustrate the relevance of history to current events, including:

   

  -George Washington, in the darkest hour of the Revolution, writes a stirring call for “material change” in America’s government and financial and military establishment;

  -Frederick Douglass celebrates becoming a citizen;

  -Abraham Lincoln predicts “a New Birth of Freedom” 

  -Alexander Hamilton reacts to economic crisis;

  -Susan B. Anthony calls for women’s right to vote;

  -John F. Kennedy criticizes a priest for adding religion to a school board election;
