[BKARTS] Tango with Cows tour: SoCal APHA



Dear SoCal APHA members,

We are pleased to announce another special event which we have arranged for APHA members.

Tango with Cows, an exhibit of Russian book art from 1910 to 1917 at the Getty Research Institute, runs from Nov. 18 to April 19, 2009. We have arranged a special tour for APHA members and prospective members on Saturday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m. with curator Nancy Perloff. Nancy will take us through her remarkable exhibit of Russan “transrational” poetry books illustrated with primitive and abstract imagery. The installation of the exhibit is quite dynamic with images crawling from the floor up the walls, and you can listen to various readings of the poetry with translations.

There are ancillary activities such as an evening performance called Explodicity on Feb. 4 and a full day seminar on the early Russian avant-garde book on Feb. 5. There are other tours during the week if you cannot attend on Feb. 14. Please visit the following website for more information:
