2-Day Leather Tooling Workshop with Jana Pullman
Saturday February 28 & Sunday March 1, 10-5

University of Iowa, Iowa City

Explore the magic of decorative tooling on leather bindings. Feel the recessed patterns and the shimmer of fine gold lines that add beauty to an everyday book. This class will be a practical introduction to both traditional and non-traditional techniques used for tooling. Students will prepare sample leather covered boards for practice as they learn a variety of tooling styles along with materials and techniques. No previous leather experience required. Class size is limited to 10.

Jana will also speak about her work on Friday evening. This event will be open to the public.

Jana Pullman earned her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 25 years of book arts experience, she has worked as printer, papermaker, illustrator, conservator, and book artist. Jana is the owner of Western Slope Bindery specializing in custom binding and repair of books, and teaches papermaking, binding and conservation workshops throughout the country.

UI Students: $90, plus $15 materials fee (total $105)
Non-Students: $110, plus $15 materials fee (total $125)
