Re: [BKARTS] Guaranteeing Bookbinding?

i recently had someone bring berengers 2 volume set (1771) that had been rebound in a fake leather case binding , with the spine piece of the case resting on the raised bands ,
with stamped gold foil labels

i needed no encouragement or permission as to what to do.....
the books were pulled , signatures repaired , resewn on raised cords , ... they will be forwarded as tigh backs , and covered in a panelled calf with period tooling...
(see www.paperdragonbooks.blogspot.com in 2 weeks...)
so i guess in some cases , if the repair is disfunctional , or job that bad
it would be hard to do anyhting worse!!!
what do you think???

Only if the client agrees to let me monitor his subsequent treatment of the
book.
