Books as vehicles for examining ideas: timeless.

They Rule -- http://theyrul.net/ -- allows you to visualize connections
between top US companies by seeing who wields power on multiple boards. Is
this a book?

zipdecode -- http://benfry.com/zipdecode/ -- shows you the location of any
ZIP code, if it exists, on a map. Quicker and more logically satisfying than
the book at the PO, but is it a book?
